Gregory Harris is the Mayor of Upper Lachlan Shire.
Fellow Councillors elected him Mayor at the Ordinary Meeting on Thursday 17 September 2026, for a two-year term. He has represented the Shire as a councillor since the September 2024 local government election, when he was elected with 450 first-preference votes.
He is a software architect. He moved to Greenwich Park to get out of the rat race and build a better life for his family. He develops software that helps accounting firms, financial planners and business advisers improve how their clients operate.
He stood for Council because a proposed rate rise during a cost-of-living crunch was the wrong answer. Council should cut spending to fit the budget before it asks struggling families and farms for more.
As Mayor his first job is simple: get the basics right, stay aligned with the community, and create enough local opportunity that people have a reason to stay and a reason to come.
I am honoured that my fellow Councillors have elected me Mayor. I thank Cr Paul Culhane for his leadership over the past two years and for the work he has done to restabilise Council and reconnect it with our people.
