Upper Lachlan is a shire of towns and villages. Council sits in Crookwell. The job does not stop at the town boundary.

Towns
- Crookwell — the main centre and Council chambers
- Gunning — off the Hume, with its own Council office
- Taralga — the eastern town, toward Wombeyan
Villages and localities
Bigga, Binda, Big Hill, Breadalbane, Collector, Dalton, Grabben Gullen, Greenwich Park, Jerrawa, Laggan, Tuena — and the smaller localities around them, from Bannister and Roslyn to Peelwood and Wheeo.
